What Information Should Be in a Digital Pet Passport?

5 min read Updated July 2026

A digital pet passport can serve as an organised summary of the information a pet parent may need during travel, an emergency or a visit to a new veterinary clinic.

Identification details

Include your pet’s name, recent photo, species, breed, date of birth, sex, colour and distinguishing features. Add microchip information when applicable and verify that the registered owner details remain current.

Health and vaccination information

Keep vaccination dates, medication information, allergies, known conditions and relevant veterinary notes together. The digital record should complement—not replace—official documents required by authorities or transport providers.

Emergency and contact information

Add the primary veterinary clinic, an emergency contact and your own current telephone number. Information shared through a QR code should be limited to what is genuinely useful and appropriate to disclose.
